Yes, but I wish they were a better team.

Yarr,

I actually had a colleague in North Carolina (home of the third place football and hockey teams where Pittsburgh is 1st and TBD). He accurately and aggrevatingly pointed out, "No matter how obnoxious you get when the Pens and Steelers succeed [I might be a bit of a trash talker], I know deep down you are a Pirates fan and all I have to do is bring them up to make you wince in pain."

So buccos, do it for me. Do it to restore the city of champions. Please, JUST DO IT!

No, Nobody cares about the Pirates.
15 seasons of "nothing happening here, just keep moving along " will do that to most, even some diehard fans.
While some tout the power of a long ball hitter in the minors/training camp ( who by the way will be traded as soon as he begins to produce and becomes a fan fav, as has been historically the case ), most know that the current ownership only cares about bucks. No pun intended .

Continued the conversation in a new post as this one was quite old.
